Camshaft Profile Design Service
We understand that it is not always economical to ship camshafts and would like to offer our design services to those wishing to grind their camshafts elsewhere. At WhitleyTune we pride ourselves on our camshaft profile design capabilities. Our valve lift curves are designed using Polynomial, Trapezoidal or Spline methodology. We measure cylinder head valvetrain geometry and use modern software to output camshaft lobe profiles to give the designed valve lift curves. We can output profiles to suit CNC grinding on Landis and Toyoda CNC cam grinders, as well as lift data for manual cam grinding machines using master plates.
We offer two basic packages for lobe designs. The first package is designed for customers wanting a camshaft profile and have a good idea of requirements. The second package is aimed at customers who are developing an engine and want to test multiple cam designs. If you are a camshaft manufacturer in production we also offer cam profile design services on a case by case basis.
Package 1 - US$250
- Pair of lobe designs – generally an Intake & Exhaust profile.
- 1 iteration of design – We will use our extensive experience to design you a lift curve family to suit your engine specifications.
- Unlimited stretching of lobe family to duration / lift possible. Once the lobe design has been finalised, we can stretch the duration or lift of these lobe families for you indefinitely (within the limitations of the valvetrain design).
- The design is WhitleyTune Limited's Intellectual property.
Package 2 - US$500
- Pair of lobe designs – generally an Intake & Exhaust profile.
- 3 iterations of design – We will design 3 different lift curve families to suit your required specifications. These designs can be iterative after real life testing.
- Unlimited stretching of the lobe family to duration / lift possible. Once the lobe design has been finalised, we can stretch the duration or lift of these lobe families for you indefinitely (within the limitations of the valvetrain design).
- The designs are your IP – confidentiality agreement will be signed by WhitleyTune Limited stating we will not share any details of the designs with other customers.
